The Overview
REGOMS has undertaken the challenge to meet the complex requirement of the client. The challenge is to build a pump to overcome the crane lifting capacity & space limitations on one of the older platforms in Malaysia while providing the necessary working rate & pressure.
Built as three separate skids, this modular design will allow our client to tackle the space issues offshore with minimum dimensions on each skid, and still allows for safe operation. Not more than 1.4 MT per lift was the next challenge and we have managed to overcome this by using special grade aluminium material for the skids and not compromising on quality, the skids are certified to DNV 2.7-1.
Efforts & thoughts in design to meet this stringent weight requirement has been put into segregating the components across the three skids and not losing on functionality.
Challenge number three was to provide a pump to work with highly corrosive proprietary chemicals. To solve this, we offer a state-of-the-art triplex pump made of Hastelloy, and FFKM material for its diaphragms. It does not stop there, the diaphragm triplex pump is able to run dry using packing-less technology, thus reducing the need for maintenance.
With a close & open loop system together with a multi-drive hydraulic pump, it caters for a portable C-pump to be used for fluid transfer while keeping at full working rate. Powered by the Cummins 4BTA3, this unit is fully Zone II rated and outputs 0.4 – 0.9 bpm and 2,000 – 3,000 psi of pressure. Plus, no need for bulky gensets or air compressors onboard as it starts via spring starter. The triple skid hydraulic driven pump is the first of its kind and will grace Malaysia’s platform early 2020. We shall speak to you, or rather, you shall hear more about it soon!
